League City, TX (August 31, 2024): League City Police Officers have arrested 21-year-old suspect, Steven Joseph, Jr. of Dickinson. Joseph was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest/Detention with Vehicle ($75,000 Bond) and Aggravated Assault Against Public Servant ($75,000 Bond).
On August 31, 2024, at approximately 1:05 a.m., LCPD Officer Turcios observed a red Dodge Charger speeding and commit other traffic violations while driving southbound in the 300 block of N IH 45. Officer Turcios attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the Dodge, but the driver, later identified as Steven Joseph, increased his speed to which Officer Turcios initiated a pursuit. The pursuit continued into Dickinson, Texas City and back to Dickinson.
During the pursuit, a Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was out of her patrol vehicle, with emergency lights activated, attempting to set up spikes on Deats Rd near Oklahoma St. The Dodge swerved towards the deputy, driving eastbound in the westbound lanes. Joseph allegedly did this to assault or intimidate the deputy as she was trying to set up spikes. The Dodge swerved back into the correct lane of travel. The Dodge then came to an abrupt stop in front of a residence in the 2500 block of Ave D in Dickinson. Joseph quickly exited the Dodge and led officers on a foot chase until they lost sight of him while jumping a fence.
Dickinson Police Department Officers and GCSO Deputies assisted with a perimeter and search for the suspect, which included utilizing a drone from Dickinson PD. Dickinson PD advised the drone located Joseph on a rooftop in the 2800 block of 26th St. Joseph then complied with officers’ commands to come down from the roof and was placed in custody without further incident. The Dodge was towed back to LCPD for seizure processing.
Thanks to the Dickinson Police Department and the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in apprehending Joseph.
