The Communications Division disseminates calls for service for the Police Department, Fire and EMS, 911, Animal Control, and after hours calls for all City Services. Communications Operators are trained as Emergency Medical Dispatchers and follow strict protocol. In order to expedite the correct response, certain questions are required.
When you call the Police Department please give the address of the incident, your phone number and your name to the Communications Operator. All questions have relevance.
Vacation Watch
If you are planning a trip and will not be at home for an extended period of time, we invite you to request a vacation watch through the Citizen Online Reporting System. If you prefer not to use the online system, you may call the non-emergency police dispatch line at 281-996-3300 or the Citizens Online Reporting System line directly at 1-833-319-1806 and get a link texted to your phone.
Public Information Requests
The Texas Public Information Act (the “Act”) gives the public the right to request access to government records. The Act is triggered when a person submits a written request for information that is already in existence. The Act does not require the City to create new information, compile data, do legal research, or answer questions. For more information on the rights and responsibilities visit the Texas Attorney General’s Open Records Division. Also, the City of Friendswood has the following holidays for 2024 in which City offices will be closed.
The City Secretary is the designated public information officer as it relates to the Act and all emailed public information requests (PIRs) must be sent directly to the designated email address, which is that of the City Secretary, Leticia Brysch. You may email your request to the City’s designated PIR email at records@friendswood.com, submit an online request using the City’s Public Information Request (PIR) System, or hand-deliver or mail your request to the attention of the City Secretary, Leticia Brysch, 910 S. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas 77546-4856.
