SUSPECT IDENTIFIED AND TRACKED TO OHIO
The Friendswood Police Department has identified Richard Johns IV, of Ohio, as the suspect responsible for multiple burglaries and a motor vehicle theft that occurred between March 15-17, 2025.
On March 17th, we posted about an ongoing investigation regarding multiple motor vehicle burglaries in the Eagle Lakes and Lakes of Falcon Ridge subdivisions. The suspect also entered numerous residential garages during his crime spree. With the cooperation of residents, investigators were able to obtain video and photographic evidence of the individual involved in these incidents. Following our post on the 17th, a white Toyota SUV and credit cards were reported stolen out of a garage in the 2200 block of Stillhouse Hollow Lane in the West Ranch subdivision. After analyzing all evidence, investigators were able to connect all of the crimes back to Johns IV.
Using purchase history from a gift card bought with the victim’s stolen credit card, investigators were able to track Johns’ movements and the stolen vehicle on an 1,100 mile journey to the Columbus, Ohio area. The Friendswood Police Department has contacted law enforcement authorities in Ohio in an effort to apprehend Johns IV and recover the stolen Toyota SUV.
“We’ve done everything we can to identify this individual, track his movements, and share actionable intelligence with law enforcement agencies in Ohio,” said Friendswood Police Chief Josh Rogers. “It’s deeply concerning that, despite multiple sightings and pursuits in the Columbus, Ohio, area, this suspect remains free and continues to victimize the public.”
The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office has issued the following full extradition warrants for Mr. Johns’: 4 Burglary of a Habitation (one for each garage that was entered), Theft, and Credit or Debit Card Abuse. Mr. Johns’ Galveston County charges filed by Friendswood PD total $1.3 million in bonds.
We would like to thank the residents and businesses who provided essential video and information that allowed us to identify Johns IV. We will continue to our efforts to pursue justice for those affected by these crimes.
