Morad Kabiri became the City Manager on April 14, 2018. Kabiri began his municipal career in Missouri City, TX in 2000 and has held a variety of positions in local government Planning, Engineering, Capital Projects, Public Works, and City Management. In 2007, he joined the City of Friendswood as Deputy Director of Community Development, and was promoted to Director of Community Development and City Engineer shortly thereafter.
In 2012, he became Friendswood’s first Assistant City Manager, responsible for the Community Development, Parks & Recreation, and Public Works departments.
Morad has a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Houston (UH) and a Master of Urban Planning & Environmental Policy from Texas Southern University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the field of civil engineering, and a Certified Planner by the American Institute of Certified Planners. He is not a stranger to many people in Friendswood after being actively involved in and meeting with residents at various community events for many years.
