What’s new for the Friendswood Jr. Lifeguard program?
Starting Summer 2025, we are introducing a whole new program to help educate and mold the next generation of life-savers and stewards of the community!
Participants will undergo a four week session (3 days a week – M,W,F) learning all about the duties, responsibility, and life-saving skills that make great lifeguards.
Now, Jr. Lifeguards will go through over 30 hours of instruction time, including both in-water and dry-land activities. over the course of the program, participants will also be able to earn a certification in CPR and First Aid through the American Red Cross. Outside of the program’s class time, Jr. Lifeguards will also be welcome to volunteer at the Friendswood City Pool to assist with various programs and events, as well as during regular operating hours to gain on-the-job experience!
Schedule
There are two available options for the Jr. Lifeguard program. Both of them will take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 2:30pm – 5pm.
Session 1 dates: June 2 – June 27 (M/W/F)
Session 2 dates: July 7 – August 1 (M/W/F)
Daily Schedule
– Welcome and Swim Training/Relays : 20 minutes
– Daily Lesson : 60 minutes
– Break : 10 minutes
– Water / Land Review and Learn New Skills : 40 minutes
– Wrap-up / Review the Activities for the Day : 5 minutes
Cost
The registration fee per participant, per session is $125.00
The cost includes a participant t-shirt to wear during their instruction times as well as for if they’d like to volunteer at the pool outside of the program. It also includes the cost of the Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification and the necessary equipment that Jr. lifeguards will receive.
